Tips From The Top for February 2018. As a certified peer group facilitator with The Alternative Board (TAB), I get the opportunity to review ideas and insights from TAB facilitators and members from around the world.

Here are my top picks for February 2018…

Hire the Right Attitude
TAB Winnipeg Board 401
You can improve customer service and product knowledge through training – however hiring someone who has a
poor attitude or is not a fit for your company will not be successful in the long run. That hire may actually harm the overall company morale. Use DISC or other behavioral assessments to ensure a good fit.

Cultivating Relationships that Last
Jordan Katz, Aldridge Pite, LLC
When you travel with someone on a business trip, do not talk business. Get to know as much as possible about
them. Then call first thing Monday morning to talk business!

Giving Away the Store?
TAB Denver West Board 308
When you start a relationship with a customer, you must set expectations about the amount of work you are going to do, the amount of product you are going to provide and your expectations for compensation.

  1. Are you going to provide reports and, if so, will you also be expected to consult/coach on what to do with the
    information for the same price?
  2. Are you going to offer a quick diagnostic, or will you be expected to provide a more thorough diagnosis for the same price?
  3. Are you offering to give someone a ride to the store or are you expected to sit and wait while they shop?If you don’t set expectations and have an agreement on your compensation, you might find yourself giving a lot of product or service away for free!

Decision Making
TAB Winnipeg Board 210
Make every decision to satisfy the employee, the customer and the shareholder.

The Right People Are Essential
TAB Winnipeg Board 410
All your future business plans and success are dependent on having the right people. Without the right people, you can’t execute even the simplest of plans.

Owner/Operator Performance
Mark Fridman, Mark-10 Corporation
If you are finding it difficult to stay on task or focus, consider adding to your routine an exercise regimen. Also
scheduling non-work activities can compel one to focus on getting the essentials completed.
