Tips From The Top for March 2018. As a certified peer group facilitator with The Alternative Board (TAB), I get the opportunity to review ideas and insights from TAB facilitators and members from around the world.

Here are my top picks for March 2018…

How to Find the Most Qualified Candidate

TAB Winnipeg Board 401

Group interview: Create a short list of 8 to 10 candidates, bring them all into a group interview, assess their ability to communicate in a group and stressful environment. The “A” players quickly stand out and the bad candidates deselect themselves.

Efficiency with (ADD)

Lynn Tomasek,  Brothers Heating, Plumbing and Electric

Automate, Delegate and Destroy (ADD) is a new way of looking at the tasks in my business. For every task my team and I ask – Can this be automated? Should this be delegated? Should we stop doing this and is there a better way? It keeps us from getting stuck in our “standard” ways of doing things and improves our efficiency.

Most Important Thing to Do for Your Google Search Results

Tom Shipley, Cole-Dalton Marketing Services

Visit Google and type your business name, street address and city into the search bar.
What should pop up on the upper right of the results is a Google Knowledge Panel of your business. You should see your correct business name, phone number, and a button that leads to your website.
If the knowledge panel has a link in the middle that reads, “Own this Business?” that means your Google Business Listing needs to be claimed by YOU. Make sure you claim it with a gmail address and password that you will not forget.
Follow the instructions to claim and optimize your listing. It’s the most fundamental thing you can do to improve your businesses search results.
(And if your digital marketing agency doesn’t know anything about this, start shopping for a new digital marketing agency.)

Incorporate Personal Goals into Your KPIs

Paul Rayner, Virtual Genius

I have a new KPI of spending 1 day per week with my spouse. This helps me balance my business and personal lives, and enriches my family and marriage.
